The Ga North Municipal Assembly provides official marriage registration services under the Marriage Ordinance, Cap 127 and the Customary Marriage and Divorce (Registration) Law, 1985 (PNDCL 112). All marriages performed within the municipality must be registered.
Service Types & Fees
Ordinance Marriage
Registered under the Marriage Ordinance Cap 127. Legally binding civil marriage.
GHS 150–200Customary Marriage
Registration of customary/traditional marriages under PNDCL 112.
GHS 50–100Requirements / Documents Needed
- Valid National Identification Cards (Ghana Card) of both parties
- Birth Certificates of both parties
- Four (4) recent passport-sized photographs each (white background)
- Two (2) witnesses with valid identification
- Letter of no impediment from home district (for non-residents)
- Court declaration of single status (for previously married persons)
- Death certificate of former spouse (for widowed persons)
- Payment of prescribed registration fees
Application Process — Step by Step
Obtain Form
Visit the Central Administration office and obtain the marriage registration application form.
Complete Form
Fill out the form completely and attach all required supporting documents.
Submit Application
Submit your completed form and documents to the Registration Officer.
Verification
Documents and information are verified. Both parties may be interviewed.
Payment
Pay the required fees at the Finance Department and obtain a receipt.
Certificate Issued
Your marriage certificate is issued within 1–3 working days of approval.
